Our Philosophy

English Village^SM aims to offer professionally customized, holistic, learner-centered programs where students are encouraged to become more responsible and active participants in their own learning process. Our English Village^SM programs encourage the development of students' language skills and cultural awareness in a unique three-part, theme-based program. Moreover, we emphasize the importance of small student/teacher ratios for classroom instruction not only to achieve a more personal experience, but for optimal language development. We believe our students deserve the kind of instruction they want whether it be in a private, semi-private or small group setting.

Customized

The needs of our students determine the design and content of their programs. English Village^SM works with our clients schools and individuals interested in English language learning to develop the goals and themes for the program. By matching their needs to our unique instruction format, we can create top-quality, custom-designed programs that are appropriate to the students' level, expectations and learning goals.

Holistic

Classroom instruction, Action English and homestay are all vital components of English Village^SM and are carefully coordinated to reinforce one another for a maximum language-learning effect. English Village's^SM unique three-part system allows for a very high degree of integration among the components; an advantage not always found in other ESL/Homestay programs.

Learner Centered

The focus of English Village^SM instruction is entirely on the student and his/her language level, goals, and needs. Our programs are flexible enough that students and their teachers may work together to further customize and personalize the program. All students complete a Needs analysis developed by English Village^SM to determine their specific language learning needs of students. Students may also choose form various topics and materials which are of most interest to them to incorporate into the program.

Action English

Action English is an extension of classroom instruction. It utilizes structured activities and real-life opportunities provided by community and peer interaction to reinforce the skills learned in class.

Students typically have classroom instruction in the morning with their ESL instructor, then, in the afternoon, they explore the many sights and activities that the community has to offer with a trained Action English tutor. Action English offers students the opportunity to apply their new English language skills in practical, every day circumstances and learn more about North American culture at the same time! With their tutor, students enjoy practicing their listening and conversation skills and have the chance to do some sightseeing!
