Students typically arrive at the end of August /January. Students who need ESL support are encouraged to apply this program. ESL support is provided by schools, which are typically in larger, urban communities. Students may attend for 3 months, 5 months or 10 months, and have the option to graduate from Canadian high school. Students may require a two week Intensive English Program (IEP) designed to help prepare them for the challenge of using English academically and socially before students transfer to the community.

• Flexible and socially/culturally adaptable person.
• 11 to 17 years of age.
• Globally minded (international interest/perspective)
• Be able to conduct daily life without physical or mental concerns. 
• Be mature and capable of handling adjustment to life in Canada.
